What is the sleeve gastrectomy?
Sleeve gastrectomy is a minimally invasive bariatric surgery that removes about 70-80% of the stomach. Surgery usually takes between 45-60 minutes. The remaining stomach becomes a thin, sleeve-shaped pouch. It reduces hunger hormones, helping patients feel full sooner.

After surgery, digestion remains normal- nutrients are absorbed the same way. Patients have a lower long-term risk of nutrient deficiencies than with gastric bypass. Most patients go home within 24-48 hours after surgery and can return to normal activities within 6 weeks.
